PADS technology enables aircrews to obtain in-situ weather information. For guided airdrop systems, the real-time data provided by the PADS ASonde and accomping Mission Support Equipment (MSE) allows mission planners to increase standoff distance and deliver cargo and personnel from higher altitudes with greater precision and safety than conventional methods. PADS was developed jointly with the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army, and designed to meet the demanding requirements of precision delivery of ballistic and guided cargo delivery systems. LogLinear engineers test improvements and upgrades to this critical piece of America’s military logistics system.
JPADS measures the wind velocity profile over a dropsite using a radiosonde dropped from the support aircraft. Knowledge of the local wind field makes precision parachute airdrop of supplies possible. LogLinear and our partner QinetiQ Inc. design and construct radio transceivers that are critical components in JPADS dropsonde simulators.
